About Landlord Atlas

Landlord Atlas is a free reference for independent and small-portfolio landlords: the state-by-state rules that come up constantly — security deposits, rent increase notice, late fees, and entry notice — verified against official statutes, cited, and dated. A suite of free generators and calculators is built on the same verified data.

It is not legal advice, not a tenant-screening or property-management platform, and not affiliated with any government agency. See the methodology for how facts are verified and the disclaimer for the fine print.

How the site is funded

The reference content and tools are free and will stay that way. Two things cover costs: we sell one paid product — the Landlord Operations Bundle ($19), an operational toolkit of spreadsheets, checklists, and letter templates — and the site carries a small number of clearly disclosed affiliate placements for landlord services. Currently that means one partner: Hemlane, a property-management platform for self-managing landlords. If you subscribe through a Landlord Atlas link, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate placements never appear inside an answer box or fact table, and no partner ever influences what the law pages say — the statutes say what they say.
